Allergy Plus by Pollen.com is a health and fitness app designed to help you track local pollen levels and manage allergy symptoms. I first downloaded this app from Google Play a couple of years ago because I needed something simple to check the daily pollen count. It's free to install and you don't have to register right away, which I really liked. There are ads in the free version, but they are not too annoying. You can also get the paid version if you want to remove them. The app has been downloaded over a million times and it works on both Android and iOS. It gives you a daily forecast for pollen, mold, and other allergens based on your location.

Using the app is really straightforward. When you open it, the main screen shows your local allergy forecast for the day. You can see if the pollen level is low, medium, or high. I check it every morning during spring to plan my day. One tip I have is to set your location manually if you are traveling. The app will then show the forecast for that city. You can also log your symptoms daily. This helps you see how your allergies change over time. There is a symptom tracker where you rate how bad your eyes, nose, or throat feel. This data helps you understand what triggers your allergies and when they are at their worst.

Compared to other allergy apps like WebMD Allergy, I find Allergy Plus by Pollen.com more focused on the local data. WebMD Allergy has a lot of extra health articles, which is nice, but I just want the pollen count and a quick forecast. This app gives me exactly that without too much extra information. The layout is cleaner and easier to read. Another app I tried was Zyrtec AllergyCast, but it did not update as often. Allergy Plus by Pollen.com seems to refresh the data more frequently during the day. That's why I keep coming back to it. It is simple, reliable, and does what I need without wasting my time. I also like that it shows the top allergen in my area, like grass or ragweed, so I know exactly what is bothering me.

features

  • 🌤 The main function is the daily pollen forecast. You can see the pollen level for your area for today and the next few days. It breaks it down into tree, grass, and weed pollen. Similar apps like Weather.com also show pollen, but they do not give as much detail. This app focuses only on allergies, so the data feels more accurate and specialized.
  • 📊 The symptom tracker is another key feature. You log how your allergies feel each day. Over time, the app shows a graph of your symptoms and the pollen levels together. This helps you notice patterns. Other apps like MySymptoms have a similar tracker, but it is not tied to local pollen data. This connection makes Allergy Plus by Pollen.com more useful for allergy sufferers.
  • 🗺 The app also has a national allergy map. You can see which parts of the country have high pollen on a given day. This is helpful if you are planning a trip or moving. Other apps like PollenWise offer a map too, but it is not as easy to read. The map in this app is simple and color-coded, so anyone can understand it quickly.

pros

  • ✅ The local pollen forecast is very accurate. It updates often during the day. Other apps like AccuWeather give pollen info too, but it feels less detailed and not as current. This app seems to pull data from local monitoring stations, so it is more reliable.
  • ✅ The user interface is clean and simple. It is easy to find what you need. Similar health apps often have cluttered home screens. This one shows the most important info first, which I really appreciate.
  • ✅ The app works well offline too. You can check the last forecast even if you don't have internet. Not all allergy apps offer this, so it is a nice advantage when I am in a place with weak signal.

cons

  • ❌ The free version has too many ads. They pop up sometimes right when I want to check the forecast. Other free health apps are better about this. I wish they would reduce the ad frequency a bit.
  • ❌ The symptom tracker could be improved. It only asks about eyes, nose, and throat. Some people also have skin or breathing issues. Apps like WebMD Allergy let you track more symptoms. Adding a few more options would make it more complete.
