Sprout - AI Job Search is a productivity app in the job search category that focuses on making the whole process of finding work much easier. I found it on Google Play a few weeks ago when I was really tired of scrolling through dozens of job boards. The app has been around for a bit and it works on both Android and iOS, so you can grab it from Google Play or the App Store. It has over 100k downloads on Google Play alone, which shows that a lot of people are using it. The app is free to download, and you do not need to pay anything to start. You do have to create an account with your email, which took me less than a minute. There is a premium version that unlocks extra stuff, and yes, there are some ads, but they are not too annoying. I was surprised that the ads are mostly in the free version, and I could still do a lot without paying.
When you open the app, you first fill in your resume and pick the kind of jobs you want. The AI then learns from your choices and starts showing you jobs that actually match. I liked that you can swipe right on a job you like, and the app saves it for you. A simple tip from me is to update your skills every day, because the more you feed the AI, the better the matches get. I also found that setting the location filter to a wider area gives you more options, and the app does a good job of hiding jobs you have already seen. You can set daily reminders, and the app will send you alerts when new jobs are posted. That really helped me stay on top of things without checking my phone all day.
I have tried other job apps like Indeed and LinkedIn, but this one feels more personal. The AI seems to understand what I want better than the basic filters on other apps. It does not just throw every job with a keyword at you, it actually looks at your experience. I also liked that the app has a clean design, which makes it easier to use compared to some older job apps that feel cluttered. The check in feature is nice too, you can mark when you apply, and the app will remind you to follow up. For me, this app stands out because it feels like a personal assistant rather than just a search tool. I would say give it a try if you are actively looking for a job.
features
- 📌 Smart job matching: The main function here is the AI that learns from your profile and your swipe choices. It suggests jobs that actually fit your skills, not just random listings. Compared to Indeed, which just uses basic keyword filters, this feels much more accurate and saves me so much time.
- 📌 One tap apply: Many jobs let you apply directly through the app with your saved resume, and you do not have to leave the app or fill out the same forms again. On LinkedIn, you often get redirected to external sites, but here it is smooth and quick.
- 📌 Application tracker: You can see the status of every job you applied for in one simple list. It shows whether you have been viewed, shortlisted, or rejected. This is way better than other apps where you just send your resume and never hear back.
- 📌 Daily alerts: The app sends you push notifications for new jobs that match your profile, and you can choose how many alerts you want per day. Unlike other apps that spam you, this one lets you control the frequency, which I really appreciate.
pros
- 🌟 The AI recommendations are spot on, and unlike other apps, it does not show you jobs that are completely off track. It feels like the app actually reads your resume.
- 🌟 The design is clean and modern, making it simple to navigate. I did not have to spend time learning how it works, which is a big plus compared to older job apps that look outdated.
- 🌟 The app has a built in resume builder that is easy to use. I could update my experience and skills in minutes, and it helped me get better responses from employers.
- 🌟 The follow up reminders are a game changer. The app tells me when to check in on an application, which I have never seen in other apps.
cons
- ⚠️ The free version has a limited number of smart matches per day, which can be frustrating if you are searching full time. Other apps do not have this limit.
- ⚠️ Some job listings are not updated fast enough, so you might apply to a position that has already been filled. This happens less on bigger job boards.
