myChevrolet is a car utility app made for Chevrolet owners to manage their vehicle directly from their phone. I first heard about it when I got my Chevy last year and downloaded it from Google Play. The app is free to install, and you just need to create a GM account to log in. It works on both Android and iOS, and it has over 1 million installs on Google Play so far. There are no in app purchases, but you do see some ads for Chevy services and deals. You don't have to pay anything to use the main features, which is nice.

Using the app is pretty straightforward. After you log in, you can check your oil life, tire pressure, and fuel level right from your phone. I like that you can remote start your car if it's equipped, which is great on cold mornings. You can also schedule service appointments at a nearby dealer without calling anyone. A simple tip I would give is to set up notifications for when your car needs maintenance, because it saves you from guessing. The app also shows your vehicle's location on a map, which helped me once when I forgot where I parked in a big lot.

Compared to other car apps like FordPass or Toyota App, myChevrolet feels more focused on basic controls. FordPass has a similar remote start feature, but I find myChevrolet's layout easier to read. The Toyota App gives you more driving tips, but it also feels cluttered. What I like about myChevrolet is that it doesn't try to do too much. It just tells you what your car needs and lets you act on it. I picked it because I own a Chevy, but honestly, it works better than I expected for a free app. It's not perfect, but it gets the job done without any hassle.

features

  • 🔑 Remote vehicle controls let you start your engine, lock or unlock doors, and activate the horn or lights from anywhere. This is a direct competitor to FordPass, which offers similar remote start but requires a paid subscription for some features. With myChevrolet, remote start is free for the first few years with a new car.
  • 🔑 Vehicle health monitoring shows your tire pressure, oil life, and fuel level in real time. Toyota App also offers this, but myChevrolet updates faster and gives clearer warnings when something is off. I like that it also suggests when to schedule an oil change based on your actual driving, not just a fixed schedule.
  • 🔑 Service scheduling is built right into the app. You pick a dealer, choose a time, and it confirms automatically. FordPass has this too, but myChevrolet lets you see dealer ratings and availability without leaving the app. This saves me a call every time.
  • 🔑 Roadside assistance is one tap away. It sends your location and vehicle info to the help team. Toyota App has a similar button, but myChevrolet's response time is faster in my experience. I had a flat tire once and a truck came within 30 minutes.

pros

  • 👍 The remote start works flawlessly every time. FordPass sometimes fails to connect in low signal areas, but myChevrolet has been reliable for me. It's a simple thing but makes a big difference in winter.
  • 👍 The app updates vehicle status instantly. Toyota App lags by a few minutes, which can be annoying when you want to check if you locked the doors. myChevrolet shows the current state almost immediately.
  • 👍 The service booking is super convenient. You don't need to speak to anyone. Just pick a time slot and go. Other apps like FordPass require a follow up call sometimes, but myChevrolet just confirms and you're done.

cons

  • 👎 The app feels a bit slow when loading the main screen. It sometimes takes 10 seconds to show your car's data. FordPass loads faster on my old phone.
  • 👎 The navigation feature is basic. It only shows directions to a dealer. Toyota App offers full navigation integration, which is much better for daily driving.
